Vampire Knight is a Japanese comic book, also referred to as manga, about a school who has a hidden dark secret. The students in the aptly named “Cross Academy” is divided into two classes - the regular “Sun” Class, whose students go to the school in the morning and the nocturnal “Moon” Class, whose students take classes in the night.

The “Moon” Class is however, more popular because most of them are handsome. One reason for this is they are not humans. They are Vampires, those charmingly handsome but viciously blood sucking inhumans. The vampires in such school are taught in a manner similar to that of nobles. Unlike regular vampires who randomly attack people, bite their necks and suck them of their blood dry, these vampire students are more “educated” and drink only from blood tablets to satiate their blood lust. They are also tasked of hunting down these regular criminal vampires who prey on humans. They intend to create a new world where vampires are accepted as creatures who can co exist with humans.

The manga revolves around three interesting characters: Yuuki Kurosu, a female human prefect tasked to keep the secret of the school; Kaname Kuran, the most handsome and influential male vampire and is the head of the Night Class; and Zero Kiriyuu, a male human prefect working alongside Yuuki and is distinguishable with his grey hair.
