Our ever favorite acrobat and blade-welding prince will now grace the movie screen on the upcoming film, Prince of Persia: Sands of Time. The adaptation is being produced by Jerry Bruckheimer for Buena Vista Pictures and will star Jake Gyllenhaal (Jarhead, Brokeback Mountain) as the young prince Dastan.

The movie will revolve around the prince’s adventures and his quest of preventing an evil nobleman from obtaining the Sands of Time, a gift from the Gods that has the ability to reverse time thus granting its possessor to rule the world. He will be joined by Tamina, a feisty princess to be played by Gemma Arterton (Quantum of Solace).

Riding on the current trend of film adaptations of animated series and video games, Prince of Persia fans are excited to see if the film will do wonders just like the franchise but in fear that it will go the other way around, like what happened to Blood Rayne and just recently, Speed Racer (crossing my fingers).

Magical or not, let’s just wait and see.
