The basic needs of a human being are food, shelter and clothing. Food is the most important at all. Nowadays, starvation is currently rampant in third world countries.
In these regions, mud cookies made of dirt, salt, and vegetable shortening have become a part of regular meals. As appalling as they may sound, they are rich in calcium and are effective antacids.
In Haiti, a third world country, poverty and rising costs of basic amenities have forced some of its citizens to live on the food, which is made of dirt, vegetable shortening, and mud.
Analyses of the health effects of course, produce downright negative feedback from health specialists. Dirt can harbor lethal toxins or parasites. Haitian physicians say depending on the mud cookies for daily subsistence is courting malnutrition.
It’s a basic human instinct to search for food in order to survive. As what the saying goes “survival to the fittest” and one way that they think to survive is to eat mud cookies.
